| So here it is ... almost two years after we first started working on the process ... our debut album 'Grounded in Space'! What a journey it has been ... in true Advaita fashion, we wouldn't have been even remotely satisfied if we didn't cause ourselves serious emotional stress planning, recording and producing this album. But at the end, or should we say the beginning of it all, we would like to quote our lead singer Chayan -'Hope you like it'!
It seems this is the season for albums, apart from Advaita there are at least five ot six bands we know from Delhi itself who are releasing theirs, and not simply burning a few home recordings onto a Cd, there is a real endeavour to put one's heart and soul into the whole thing. This is not something that can be ignored, we believe it is a movement of sorts, an alternative Indian sound is slowly but surely emerging!
For us, this has been a labour of love - almost all the resources, planning and execution have been driven by the band itself. It is certainly not easy, but one person who we have to mention here for his incredible support, is Mr. Shantanu Hudlikar, a superstar in his own right in the land they call (for some strange reason) ..Bollywood!!! 'Shantanu Sir, the passion you brought into the recording put an energy into the process which was palpable ... those two weeks at the Yash Raj were simply unreal, it still feels like a dream.
More recently, we had the good fortune of working with another legend, a certain Mr John Leckie. Although we were part of a specific project called the India Soundpad sessions, he guided us on the production of our own album well after he had returned to the UK and even hooked up the mastering for us. Thank you a thousand times John!
Well - there's not much more to say except .. that music is a beautiful and powerful thing. We thank God everyday for being able to dwell in this deeper world. Inshah Allah, this is the first of many albums to come.
Peace
