Advaita had a rocking show at the NH7 Weekender Festival in Pune. Abhishek shares his experience:

We were thrilled to be a part of the NH7 Weekender Festival in Pune, presently the biggest and best underground music festival out there in the country. Our gig at the event was part of a really hectic schedule, which saw us play 4 gigs in 5 days in three different cities – but this one was truly special. Credit must be given to the way the organizers treat the artists – you’re handed a special welcome note, some cash for daily expenses and coupons for the bar the minute you reach the hotel. But of course the main attraction here is the fact that there are so many artists of all kinds of musical styles taking part in what can only be described as a celebration of music. There were three stages – two of them were catering to purely rock and electronica and then there was the Dewarists main stage on which we were scheduled to perform along with likes of Raghu Dixit and … the majestic Imogen Heap.

Soundcheck delays and curtailed time slots apart things went pretty smoothly and we had a really good show. I had know idea that we had a fan following here in Pune (lots of people from Mumbai do hop across though) – but it was overwhelming to get the roar we got from the crowd when we got on stage. The set went of fairly smoothly; we tried some of our newer songs from the upcoming album.

I must reiterate how beautiful the vibe at the venue was – it was looking spectacular with some nice decoration and people dressed in all kinds of funky ways (loved those purple wigs). There were buckets of alcohol being sold .. so all in all every one was quite merry. Hypnotribe consisting of some of the most experienced musicians on the scene was really cool, playing their new age funk / soul kind of groovy stuff. Raghu Dixit also mesmerized the audiences – as he always does. What an entertainer!

Would have loved to stay on and party on Sunday – heard great stories about all that went on that day including an all star jam as the finale comprising of musicians from several outfits, unfortunately we had to leave early morning for another gig … but hey we’re not complaining!!
